Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has urged his former club to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, believing he has great potential at a much cheaper price than Alexander Isak.

The Reds are expected to look for a new striker this สนใจสมัคร? คลิกที่นี่เพื่อเริ่มต้น summer after Darwin Nunez’s disappointing form and Diogo Jota’s lack of consistency and ongoing physical problems with injuries.

While Newcastle’s Isak looks like an interesting target given his hot form, Fowler sees Watkins as a more attractive option and would be much cheaper.

“If you don’t buy new players, you are at risk,” Fowler told The I Paper when asked about Liverpool’s summer transfer window. “Maybe Nunez is on some clubs’ list because he hasn’t played as much as he would like, so you would think Liverpool would try to buy a No.9.”

“The problem is that clubs know they might be looking for a No.9 so the price tag would be very high. If you look at Isak, he’d be worth £100m-plus easily. He’s a great player but Liverpool might not have to pay that much and they’ll look at someone else.”

“You could look at Ollie Watkins, he’s not quite the model Liverpool are looking for at the age (29) but I’d probably sign him for two or three years because he’s a great player with Premier League experience.”
